COURSE OBJECTIVE
This qualification applies to individuals working in a work health and safety (WHS) role who provide a broad range of technical knowledge and skills, and have some limited responsibility for the output of others.
The qualification applies to those working as supervisors, WHS personnel, and workers in other WHS-related roles who manage risks effectively, apply relevant WHS laws, and contribute to WHS within the workplace in known or changing contexts with established parameters.

PATHWAYS INFORMATION
Preferred Pathways for entering into this qualification may include;
  • BSB30719—Certificate III in Work Health and Safety
  • Other relevant Certificate III qualification
  • Extensive vocational experience in WHS roles (this may include Health & Safety Representatives, Health & Safety Committee Member, Health & Safety Assistant)
Pathways from the qualification may include;
  • BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety

PARTICIPANTS REQUIREMENTS

To successfully complete this qualification it is necessary to;
  • Have access to and the ability to use a computer for word processing
  • Have internet access so you can locate and use relevant research material
  • Have sound English literacy skills to read and comprehend information from a variety of sources and compile documents
  • Have a range of strong communication strategies to communicate effectively
  • Have strong interpersonal skills to issue instructions in an authoritative manner
  • Have organisational and time management skills to sequence tasks and meet deadlines
  • Have numeracy skills to carry out simple calculations
  • Have the ability to build relationships with stakeholders (internal and external)
QUALIFICATION RULES
The Certificate IV in WHS consists of five Core units and five Elective units of competence.

  • BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation process
  • BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management
  • BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems
  • BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response
  • BSBWHS417 Assist with managing WHS implications of return to work
  • BSBSUS401 Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices
  • BSBWHS418 Assist with managing WHS compliance of contractors
  • BSBWHS401 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements
  • BSBRES411 Analyse and present research information

COURSE DELIVERY / ASSESSMENT
  • Gramac Training Solutions delivers the Certificate IV in WHS through blended delivery including face-to-face in a classroom/workshop environment, or as a Traineeship
  • Prior to enrolment participants must undertake an interview and a LLN (language, literacy & numeracy) assessment
  • Learning guides and materials are supplied to participants
TIMELINES
  • Classroom / Self-Paced – comprehensive face-to-face classroom training session, plus external studies
  • Traineeship – up to 18 months to complete the course with blended delivery
  • Government incentives may be available to employers by training their staff on the job towards a qualification
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
In circumstances where you believe you can demonstrate competence in any of the units through skills, knowledge and experience acquired training and work and life experience you can apply for RPL Assessment by consulting with a Gramac Training Solutions Trainer/Assessor.
