JSA & SWMS Workshop

 

SWMS ARE NOW MANDATORY
The WHS Act and Regulations SA (2012) requires people undertaking high risk construction work to ensure that Safe Work Method Statements are prepared and accessible to all persons prior to work commencing.


COURSE OBJECTIVE
This workshop is designed for all persons who play a role in developing Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) in the work place. The course will guide you through writing SWMS, in a simple and effective format and provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to complete SWMS and a Job Safety Analysis (JSA). A JSA is an effective tool to examine and establish the safest ways to complete a job.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS COURSE?
This course is designed for anyone who needs to write, review or check SWMS and/or JSA’s.

PRE-REQUISITIES
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Basic computer skills an advantage

COST
$140 per person (CITB Discounts may apply for eligible candidates)


COURSE TIMES
Morning and afternoon sessions are available (9am - 1pm, or 1pm - 5pm)


COURSE CONTENT
Topics covered include;
  • Risk Management principles and legislative responses
  • Hazard management identification and assessment
  • Writing and reviewing a SWMS
  • Checking SWMS for compliance
  • Toolbox meetings
  • How to break down a job into basic steps
  • Complete a JSA

LEARNING OUTCOMES
You will learn how to;
  • Break down your activities into sequential steps
  • Identify hazards associated with each step
  • Assess the level of risk associated with these hazards
  • Apply the risk control hierarchy to nominate control measures
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of control measures

PARTICIPANTS MUST
  • Wear fully enclosed, non-slip safety footwear
  • Photo Identification is a mandatory requirement (Australian Driver’s License, Passport or Proof of Age Card). ID must contain photo, signature and date of birth.
