SCISSOR LIFT / VERTICAL LIFT / BOOM TYPE EWP (Boom length below 11m)
(If you require the use of boom-type elevating work platforms with a height or reach of 11metres or more, a high risk licence class WP will be required to operate.)

PRE-REQUISITES
  • Able to use and understand basic English
  • Able to use and understand basic literacy and numeracy
  • Participants must be 18 year of age to be issued a full licence from the EWPA
  • Participants must be 17 years of age to be assessed
  • Operating restrictions apply to those under 18 years of age

COST
$350 per person / 2 equipment assessments (CITB subsidies may be available)

COURSE OBJECTIVE
This course is designed to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge required to operate Elevating Work Platforms with a platform height of under 11 metres for Boom Lifts, and Scissor Lifts in a safe and competent manner in line with workplace requirements in a variety of different terrains and situations.

COURSE CONTENT
  • Plan and prepare for operating an elevating platform, hazard identification, risk assessment and control, emergency procedures
  • Fall arrest harness inspections, fitting and use
  • Conduct work activities from elevating platform
  • Carry out operator maintenance, conduct pre and post operational checks
  • Clean up
COURSE OUTCOME
  • Statement of attainment for competency unit RIIHAN301D Operate elevating work platform
  • Wallet size ‘duty of care’ Yellow Card licence from the Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia (EWPA) for the equipment assessed on (BL, SL or VL)
PARTICIPANTS MUST
  • Be able to work at heights
  • Wear fully enclosed, non-slip safety footwear, shirt and long pants/trousers
  • Photo identification is required (Australian Drivers Licence, Passport or Proof of Age Card). ID must contain photo, signature and date of birth.

AGE RESTRICTIONS
If you are under 18 years of age you will have a Restricted Yellow Card issued, marked with a 'R'. The restriction will only allow you to operate an EWP under direct supervision of an Unrestricted (over 18) Yellow Card holder of the same EWP class.
if you turn 18 within 1 year of obtaining the Restricted Yellow Card you will automatically be issued with an unrestricted Yellow Card - if your postal address details change within this time you will need to contact the EWPA prior to turning 18.
